The patient’s isolated plasma (specifically, the Epidermal Growth Factor) is applied to the face, neck and neckline skin in order to stimulate tissue regeneration, producing an increase in the skin’s thickness, smoothness and luminosity along with mitigating the effects of the aging process. Areas of sun-damaged, precancerous keratoses or scaling patches may improve after chemical peeling. Following treatment, new lesions or patches are less likely to appear. **
How is chemical peels treatment performed?
At the time of treatment, the skin is thoroughly cleansed with an agent that removes excess oils. One or more chemical solutions – an alpha hydroxy acid, such as glycolic acid, salicylic acid, lactic acid or trichloroacetic acid (TCA) are used.
Our skin specialists are well qualified to select the proper peeling agent based upon the type of skin damage present. During a chemical peel, the skin care specialist applies even layers of the solution to ensure a uniform result. These applications produce a controlled wound, enabling new, refreshed skin to appear. Most patients experience a warm, tingling sensation which lasts about five to ten minutes, followed by a stinging sensation.
Chemical Peels Treatment Expectations
Depending upon the type of chemical peel, a reaction similar to a sunburn occurs following a chemical peel session. Superficial peeling usually involves redness, followed by scaling that ends within three to seven days. It is important to avoid overexposure to the sun after a chemical peel since the new skin is fragile and more susceptible to free radicals. At True Med Spa, we will also prescribe the proper follow-up care to ensure you achieve the best result possible.
